Final Project 25 February 2016

As a few of us were missing today here is a reminder of what we are doing net week (25 February).

We start our final project next week. This will last for 4 weeks. BUT bear in mind there is no class on 10 March.

The final project is to work on a sand textured ground of white acrylic paint mixed with clean sand. The ratio of paint to sand is experimental/trial and error - if you want more "bite" to the surface add a bit more sand in the mix. The only note of caution is too much sand in the mix could mean the paint will not stick to the paper.

You need to bring in to class next week the following:

1. Acrylic paint - white (or any could you have already). You will need either a small tub size or two large tubes for the right quantity.

2. Clean, fine sand: Janice has kindly agreed to buy a bag for the class which you can all use and pay her in class. But if you already have your own sand then please do bring it in. Make sure it is clean i.e. play sand not construction sand.

3. Size: Ideally A2 or A3 watercolour or acrylic painting paper. Do not go smaller than A3 but you can go larger to A1 if you wish.

4. A subject: any subject you like - landscape, people, abstract shapes etc. Whatever motivates you the most.

5. Your other usual equipment and materials.

6. Pastels: this type of ground is normally used for soft pastels but if you prefer oil pastels bring them and try them on the rough surface.

7. Any questions please reply to this forum post or email them to me directly - bernardqu27@gmail.com.

See you all next week!
