Pastel Painting - combined media

This week we started our new whole-class project: combining pastel painting and water-based paint (mixed media). After a demonstration of the techniques and the various water based paint media that could be combined with the soft pastels most of the group started preparing their images with a painted under image. Some wanted to complete their pastel paintings from the last project.
As you can see from the images below, there is great experimentation taking place with some early stunning results. There is also evidence of the huge fun it is to be free to experiment in this creative way.
