We are at the Shipley again for a new 2-week project. We are exploring surface design of textile art produced by local artists as an exercise in developing our observation skills; pattern, texture, and colour skills. A stunning array of mark making, colour blending, broken colour, and general skills progression. Here we can see the whole image and a detail revealing the beauty of pastel painting even in this simple exercise. Next week we study folds, light, as well as surface properties.
